    The "White box" amo has always been the industry standard. I reload. When I bought my first .556/.223 I asked a friend who owns a gun store where to begin. His answer was White Box. Reliability, consistency and a decent price. Hopefully my reloads are as good as the originals.

    Winchester. A name synonymous with high quality ammunition. Clean burning ball powder is the only way to go if you want many rounds through your D.I. Ar-15 before having to field strip it for cleaning. I have shot thousands of rounds of Winchester ball ammo through various weapons without having to worry about factory quality control issues. It is generally more expensive than other manufacturer brands, but for me-- reliability is critical.

    I don't load my own so I buy ammunition that is reliable for Practical Rifle and 3-Gun competition and the Winchester White Box ammo has worked very well for me in 5.56mm, .223, 9mm 115gr and 147gr, .45 ACP, .12ga slugs and 7-1/2 birdshot.
